I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Millennial Central for Evolution Fresh. I received coupons for Evolution Fresh juices to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
After a particularly indulgent trip or just when we want to reset our eating habits, Josh and I usually turn to a 1 – 3 day juice fast. If we just feel like boosting our nutrition a little bit, I might make some juice for breakfast, a snack, or sometimes lunch. Normally we make our juices at home, but it takes a lot of time and a lot of tinkering to get the juices just right (Read: sweet and minimally vegetal so that Josh will drink them). I knew there were fresh juices available in grocery stores, but for some reason thought that they wouldn’t be available where I live — or worse, be terrible.
When I swung by my grocery store, I was surprised they had around 10 varieties of Evolution Fresh available! I picked up 7 of them so that Josh and I could have a little taste test when we got home. I prefer to be able to taste the veggies in my juices and Josh would rather be drinking a soda, so I had to get one from each end of the spectrum — from Super Green to Organic V all the way to Organic Strawberry Lemonade. Of what you see here, my favorites were the Super Green (tasted like a candied apple!) and the Sweet Greens (a million times better than what I make at home). Josh loved the Pineapple Coconut Water and the Power Protein (this one was a little gritty from the whey protein). We both really loved the Organic Strawberry Lemonade — so tart and delicious!
Because we normally just drink our juices and that’s that, we thought it’d be fun to liven them up a bit. It’s summer, it’s hot (or should be, Michigan hasn’t gotten the memo), and we need our liquids! I mixed 1 shot of the Super Green with the Organic Strawberry Lemonade. The lemonade is the more standard choice, so I wanted to liven it up a little extra nutrition from the Super Green. It still remained perfectly tart but took on a little of the candy apple flavor I think the Super Green has — totally refreshing. You know what else would be perfect in this? A shot of vodka! The tartness would play nice with a citrus vodka or other fruity vodka. For Josh’s mocktail, he mixed 1 shot of Power Protein with 5 shots of Pineapple Coconut Water. The coconut water drink feels like something you’d drink after a long dehydrating day at the beach, and the power protein brought a slightly banana taste (plus protein, obvi). We joked that this would be the perfect hangover cure after too many of my “Super Green Lemonade” + vodka concoctions because of the 1, 2 punch of hydration and protein.
Another stellar idea? (Not pictured, sorrrrry!) Is mixing half Power Protein, half coffee and blending with ice for a protein coffee frappe! The Power Protein is definitely has enough flavor to stand up to coffee and would actually add a nice sweetness to a frappe. How do you like your juices? Fruity? Packed with veggies? With vodka (<– always)! Have you tried Evolution Fresh? You can check them out on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or Pinterest.
P.S., I was also sent coupons to try these Evolution Harvest bars and just happened to be near a Whole Foods before they expired — fate! I love that you can see the chunks of what went into these. Plus the chocolate had a bit of a chew to it, which is a great quality in a bar for me (especially a chocolate one!). I have a tendency to just inhale bars like this and forget to enjoy them, so the chewier texture was a definite plus.
