Minty Supergreens and Strawberry Smoothie

March 4, 2015

Have I posted a smoothie recipe before? I just realized I probably haven’t. I’ve posted a boozy milkshake, but never a smoothie. What’s wrong with me? I like smoothies; I make smoothies! But really, I never think they’re recipe worthy. Throw some of this and some of that in a blender and BAM –> smoothie.

What’s different? This smoothie is delicious enough to be worthy of a blog post, huzzah! It’s minty (which is my favorite kind of drink in March) and it’s super packed with greens, which is my extra favorite (always). I used Supergreens Peppermint from Sunwarrior to really amp up the greens with alfalfa, barley grass, wheat grass, spinach, oat grass, parsley, moringa, and ginger, and also threw in some spinach, hello! Strawberries, pineapple, and a touch of agave really made this smoothie sing, plus you don’t even taste the greens. Just happy peppermint and strawberry goodness.

Plus the Supergreens have natural probiotics from the greens themselves (not added separately) and they’re naturally vegan + organic. This smoothie made enough for two, but I froze half to re-blend the next day. Even though smoothies are quick, I’m realllly lazy in the morning so that’s the perfect trick to giving me five minutes back.

Prep time:
Total time:

Serves: 2 smoothies

Ingredients
  • 1 packet Supergreens Peppermint
  • 12 frozen strawberries (no added sugar)
  • 1 c frozen pineapple (no added sugar)
  • 1 c spinach, packed
  • 1 tbsp agave, to taste (this really makes the mint come through. I don’t recommend omitting but swap it out for your favorite sweetener as you see fit)
  • 2 c unsweetened almond milk
  • ½ c old fashioned oats

Instructions
  1. Add all ingredients to a blender and pulse until smooth. For a thinner/thicker smoothie, adjust the amount of milk.

Notes
I like a little more texture from oats in smoothies. If you prefer it smooth, just keep blending until you don’t see oats like you can in my photos.

I make a lot of smoothies too, but I would be embarrassed to post any of them on the blog, haha! I love that this one has mint in it! I’ve never had a minty smoothie before but I bet it is so good with the strawberries! Now, off to check out your boozy milkshake 🙂

I need to get smoothie-ing with you! I think I could even get the.boy to drink them if there’s peppermint involved. Sounds super!

You got me all distracted with the words boozy milkshake! 🙂 But this smoothie sounds like pretty delicious too. I love the combo of pineapple and strawberry with mint! So refreshing!

I think I distracted myself with that boozy milkshake. St Patrick’s Day is coming up, can’t wait to have another boozy milkshake in my life.

Yum!! I love green smoothies! I rely on those to get those really really dark greens into my diet. This sounds delicious. I have never heard of that spearmint product! II bet it tastes great!

I have been having a green smoothie every day for the past year and I have so much more energy. I love them!

I really need to make an effort to make them more often!
