Dill Dip

January 31, 2014

Apologies in advance for a short post.  I’m feeling pretty not stellar and in desperate need of a nap.  I’m writing this post on Thursday night, but I’m assuming by the time anyone reads this, I’ll have emailed the winner of my 1 year blog-iversary giveaway!  So congrats whoever that is, I’ll probably put their name up in glitter or something whenever I get around to it 😉

Dill Dip

This dip.  This.  Dip.  My friend made it for his New Year’s Eve party and I’ve never seen people clamor over veggies the way everyone did trying to get some broccoli drowned in this dip.  It’s like Ranch’s extra delicious cousin.  I immediately knew I had to get my hands on the recipe and then turned around and lightened it up.  Plus, more dill.  Always more dill.

Dill Dip

I’m going to suggest you use this for veggies, for obviously reasons.  Carrots, celery, broccoli, the usual suspects.  If you reallllllllly twist my arm, I’ll tell you to try some pretzels (or even potato chips, shhhh).  You really can’t go wrong, it’s always delicious.

Dill Dip

Prep time:
Total time:

Serves: 16

Ingredients
  • ⅔ c fat free Greek yogurt
  • ⅔ c fat free sour cream
  • ⅔ c low fat/fat free mayo (I used Nayonaise light)
  • 2 tbsp. fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp seasoned salt (to taste, may need additional salt)
  • 2 tsp dried onion
  • 2 tsp dried parsley (can use fresh)
  • ½ tsp Cajun seasoning

Instructions
  1. Stir everything up in a bowl. For best results, refrigerate for 30+ minutes or even overnight.
  2. Serve with veggies, pretzels, or chips.

Notes
For a gluten free dip, make sure your seasoned salt and Cajun seasoning are gluten free.
The Cajun seasoning will NOT make the dip spicy. Just adds a nice well rounded flavor.

The Cajun seasoning is kick-starting my heart into happiness! Apparently on my 23rd birthday I also turned senile because I can’t remember my stories straight so I apologize if I’ve mentioned this before BUUUUT there’s a little cafe nearby called La Bou and they have THE BEST OMG THE BEST dill sauce that they hand out with their freshly baked baguettes. While my heart aches for the dill sauce, it’s super high in fat and not figure friendly. I have a strooong feeling that this dill dip would taste IDENTICAL to the highly coveted La Bou dill sauce but BETTER because it’s healthy. LOVE.

I love dill dip with vegetables. I find the Cajun seasoning interesting in this version, but bet it’s really delicious!

Amy, it won’t make it taste like something heavily Cajun seasoned. It just adds a roundness so it doesn’t taste like you’re eating a bowl of seasoned mayo.

What a great dip, is there an actual Cajun seasoning spice? love fresh dill!

Cheri, cajun seasoning is a spice blend. You can find it with the other seasonings and spices. I usually spent like $2 or $3 on a thing of it and I use it all the time, it’s really good on grilled or roasted veggies (in case you are afraid you wouldn’t use it again). If you don’t want to buy it, use a quick google search and there are plenty of recipes for it.
