I hope everyone had a safe long weekend, especially now that we’re coming into summer. My weekend was extra long and extra happy – mostly because when I got home from work on Thursday I had a package waiting for me! Getting something other than bills in the mail is incredibly exciting. Getting a box of chocolate in the mail is extra exciting. The good people over at Theo Chocolate sent me an assortment to try out and one lucky blog reader will get some of their own in this week’s giveaway!
I took a tour of their factory last summer (excuse the quality of the photo, this was taken on a cell phone) and fell in love with their chocolate. You get to see the whole process and sample a variety of flavors – definitely work the few dollars it costs. It’s really nice to see the love and care they’re taking to make the chocolate and get a little info about where chocolate comes from. If you’re even in Seattle I highly recommend you check it out. You’ll get to wear a stylish hair-net, too. Theo Chocolate is organic and fair trade, so you can feel good about eating it. The ingredients list is pretty spectacular too. In the plain dark chocolate bars, there’s nothing but cocoa beans, sugar, cocoa butter, and vanilla bean, nothing better than nice and simple.
In addition to the plain bars, they have a variety of tempting flavors. I had the Bread & Chocolate, Coconut Curry, Cherry & Chili, Monkey Bar, and Coffee & Cream. The winner of the giveaway can choose to get the same mix I had, or pick 4 bars of their own to try (as not every flavor I tried was gluten-free and/or vegan, but plenty are!). I already knew that the first three were my favorites from the tour I took, but I couldn’t resist trying out the Monkey Bar and Coffee & Cream, which are limited edition flavors.
Everyone should order at least 15 of the Monkey Bars, ASAP. That baby is milk chocolate with roasted almonds, banana chips, and salty pretzel bits – this is my new favorite chocolate bar in the world. The others are all very, very good. The bread and chocolate has crispy, salty bits of bread that really compliment the dark chocolate. The coconut curry is not something you’ll find anywhere else – slightly spicy, a little sweet, pure genius. Cherry & Chili also has a sweet and spicy combo, I like to chop it up and use it in cookies with dried cherries. The Coffee & Cream was amazing as well, like eating a mocha. I’m not always the biggest chocolate fan because the quality can be spotty, but the quality of all ingredients is very evident and makes for an amazing eating experience.
To enter, use the Rafflecopter below. One winner can choose to pick four bars of their own or get the same sample I picked out. I was provided free chocolate for the purposes of a reviewing and additional for giving away to one blog reader, but all opinions are my own. Open to residents of the United States.
